As our 2020-25 Long-Range Plan (LRP) winds down, this is an opportune moment to reflect on our progress and provide insight into the process behind developing these strategic blueprints. Creating a Long-Range Plan
The creation of a LRP is a comprehensive process that involves multiple stages and the collective efforts of both the WUSA Board of Directors and the Strategic Long Range Plan Committee.
Here’s how we make a LRP:
- Phase 1 – Kick Off & Discovery:
- Project planning, setting up meetings, and creating an Engagement Plan for gathering stakeholder input.
- Phase 2 – Engagement and Insights:
- Conducting interviews both one-on-one, “street-style” interviews, and through focus groups.
- Creating an Insights Report of data that is translated into actionable insights.
- Phase 3 – Strategic Retreat, Development of Objectives & Key Results:
- Creating a draft version of the LRP is presented to engagement groups for testing and feedback.
- Phase 4 – Final Long-Range Plan Deliverables:
- Submitting the finalized LRP and the Internal Operational Framework that will ensure steady progress to ensuring the vision in the LRP.
As we approach the conclusion of the current plan, preparations for the 2025-2030 LRP are well underway. The upcoming timeline includes:
- February – April 2025: Consultations with the incoming Board of Directors, student services, clubs, and societies.
- April 2025: Final report on consultations and a LRP document that will be drafted and submitted for discussion at a WUSA Board Meeting, from the Long-Range Planning Committee.
- May 2025: Presentation at the May Board Meeting and approval of the Plan.
Engaging in long-range planning is crucial for WUSA’s sustained success. It allows us to anticipate and adapt, proactively addressing future challenges and opportunities. It also helps us organize resources in an efficient matter, to ensure that investments align with the mission and goals of the organization. Additionally, the LRP helps foster accountability, as clearly defined objectives and metrics promote transparency and hold WUSA accountable to their commitments.
We encourage all members of our community to stay informed and participate in the planning process:
- Regular Updates: Keep an eye on official communications and our website for updates on the LRP’s progress and opportunities to provide input.
- Feedback Opportunities: Participate in upcoming forums and surveys to share your perspectives and help shape our collective future.
Your engagement is vital, with your opinion helping to ensure that our LRP reflects our shared vision and propels us toward continued excellence.
