WalkSafe Pilot Project
The Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association (WUSA) is launching WalkSafe as a short-term pilot project in March 2026 to test feasibility, demand, and effectiveness, and will thus be intentionally limited in scope. During this period, students will have the opportunity to test out the service and share their insights. Feedback received during this trial run will help inform what WalkSafe could look like in the future.
WalkSafe is run entirely for students, by students and will not be possible without a dedicated team of student staff and volunteers.

About
WalkSafe is a peer-led service that supports undergraduate students walking on main campus during evening hours. During hours of operation, WalkSafe volunteers will be available to walk with you from point A to point B, anywhere on main campus. Whether you live on campus and heading home after an event, just wrapped up a late-night study session, going to the bus stop, or anything in between, you don’t have to walk alone – WalkSafe’s got your back.
WalkSafe is currently operating as a short-term pilot project, meaning the program is intentionally limited in scope. This pilot is designed to test feasibility, demand, and effectiveness of the WalkSafe program. Feedback received during the pilot will help to inform what WalkSafe could look like in the future.
WalkSafe is:
Using WalkSafe
Step 1 – Request a Walk using the in-take form
Step 2 – Meet WalkSafe Volunteers
Step 3 – Arrive at Your Location
Step 4 – Share Your Experience
During the pilot period, feedback is vital. Complete the feedback form to help shape the future of the WalkSafe Program.
For Students, By Students
WalkSafe would not be possible without its dedicated team of student staff and volunteers.
Contributing to a Safe Campus Community
WUSA is committed to promoting the mental health, wellness, and safety of students on campus; these are among the most essential conditions for student success. It affects how students learn, connect, and engage with campus life. WalkSafe aims to contribute to this by creating opportunities for peers to walk together, boosting feelings of community and psychological safety.
