Welcome to the official rules page for the WUSA February 2024 photo contest. The theme for this month is Favourite Study Spot. We know that February is midterm season for a lot of students, and almost everyone has a favourite study spot. Whether it’s on campus or somewhere off-campus, share a photo with us of your favourite study spot for a chance to win a gift card!

Theme: Favourite Study Spot

1. GENERAL

1.1. Entries should be through the official contest platform. Alternate submissions are not valid 

1.2. All winners will be required to answer a mathematical skill-testing question 

1.3. This contest isn’t associated with or endorsed by any social media platform 

1.4. Chances of winning depend on the total eligible entries received and their quality 

1.5. Any harmful content will result in disqualification 

1.6. Personal details collected are solely for this contest’s purpose and won’t be used otherwise, unless permitted 

1.7. By submitting your entry, you allow Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association (WUSA) to use the photos on the website and social media platforms, as well as promotional materials

1.8. Participation indicates agreement to these contest rules

1.9. Eligibility: 

  • The contest is open exclusively to current University of Waterloo undergraduates
  • Students (on co-op/break term) are welcome to enter

1.10. Technical Requirements:  

  • Entries must be original and should not violate any third-party rights  
  • All winning photos must send in metadata as proof of authenticity  
  • Participants are permitted to edit and enhance their photos if necessary   
  • Background swapping, or swapping large portions of an image is not permitted  
  • Your photo should not be AI generated or you may not use AI to alter the image, however ‘AI denoise’ and ‘AI image resolution upscaling’ is permitted  
  • You may not include watermarks in your photos, any entry with watermarks will automatically disqualify for the competition 

2. HOW TO ENTER  

2.1. Starting on Monday, 5th February 2024 at 12:00 PM EST, send your submission using this form. along with your full name, email and WatIAM 

2.2. All entries must be submitted by Friday, 23rd February 2024 at 5:00 PM EST

2.3. Participants can submit up to 10 entries using different photos. Each participant can only win one prize (one person can’t win 1st, 2nd and 3rd)  

2.4. Using unauthorized automated methods will void all entries 

2.5. Harmful content, including hate speech and harassment, will lead to contest disqualification 

3. JUDGING & AWARDING PRIZES

3.1. The top three photos chosen will be announced in the March Monthly Newsletter  

3.2. Winners will be contacted within 48 hours of the judging conclusion via email 

3.3 Details such as name, program, year of study, and Waterloo email address will be requested 

3.4 If a winner is unresponsive for 2 days or forfeits the prize for any reason, another winner will be selected  

4. PRIZE DETAILS 

4.1. One winner will be awarded a $50 e-gift card, and two runner ups will be awarded a $20 e-gift card each  

4.2. Total winners: Three (3)
