Nomination Form

At the end of the term, seven awards will be given to the most deserving candidates, either a club or a member, who were active in the past year (spring, fall and/or winter). Clubs or individuals must be nominated to be in the running for an award. Clubs or individuals can either nominate themselves or other clubs or individuals. The final decision will be taken by a committee of students.

General Nomination Requirements Applicable to All Awards

  • The actions and/or activities listed in the nomination must:

    • Show that the nominee has gone above and beyond the expectations of typical operations, as compared to their counterparts; and
    • Have occurred during the period defined as: between the previous term’s award nomination deadline and the current term’s award nomination deadline.
  • Multiple nominations are accepted and will be taken into advisement by IAC given:

    • New information is presented in each additional nomination
    • Nominations are submitted by different applicants
  • Nominations may be held in higher regard by IAC if:

    • Corroborating evidence is attached (i.e. pictures, statements, screenshots, etc.) which help prove the claims given in the nomination; and/or
    • The nomination is submitted by an external party (i.e. another club/society/service/student/etc. other than the person/group nominated).
  • The preferred format by IAC is concise writing (i.e. point-form), where the facts and (if applicable) any supporting explanation are clearly and effectively communicated.

  • The nominee must be in good standing with WUSA, and not on any disciplinary sanctions (i.e. probation, suspensions, etc.) by WUSA or the University of Waterloo.

Award Categories

The recipient of this award is a club who has disguised themselves above other clubs, through effectively demonstrating the values of teamwork, inclusivity, collaboration, and community, with the aim of positively impacting the UW community and enhancing student life. This club exemplifies their commitment to their club mandate through the planning, coordination, and execution of a variety of successful events and/or activities during the eligible period, which directly relate to their specific club mandate.

Eligibility: Any active WUSA club who has existed longer than two (2) academic terms who also upholds the applicable general nomination requirements.

The recipient of this award is a new club who has exhibited commendable commitment to their particular club mandate for which their club was founded.  The club must also display potential for future growth.  This club either addresses a particular student need that was previously unfulfilled before the formation of the club, or distinguishes themselves above other existing clubs who share similarities in their club mandate.

Eligibility: Any active WUSA club who has been created over the last two (2) academic terms who also upholds the applicable general nomination requirements.

The recipient of this award is a president who has distinguished themselves above their counterparts, demonstrating a significant improvement in their respective organization as a result of their leadership and dedication to their organization. This president has gone above and beyond their obligations as president, who has demonstrated exemplary organization management, with a significant capability for leadership, diplomacy, and organizational improvement.  As a direct result of this president’s actions, their organization and/or WUSA has been able to improve their ability to serve the UW community, more effectively represent and/or support their organization’s membership, and/or more effectively execute their organization’s mandate.

Eligibility: Any current WUSA club, society, and/or society club president who also upholds the applicable general nomination requirements.

The recipient of this award is an executive who has distinguished themselves above their counterparts, displaying exceptional commitment to a particular student group, activity or event. This individual has demonstrated excellence in the performance of their assigned tasks and has gone above and beyond their role requirements.  As a direct result of this executive’s actions, their organization and/or WUSA has been able to improve their ability to serve the UW community, more effectively represent and/or support their organization’s membership, and/or more effectively execute their organization’s mandate.

Eligibility: Any student volunteer for WUSA with an executive title who also upholds the applicable general nomination requirements.

The recipient of this award is an individual who has distinguished themselves above their counterparts, exhibiting exemplary dedication to their individual volunteer position and/or their team. This volunteer epitomises the ideals of both selfless student service as well as passionate and compassionate improvement to the UW community.  This volunteer upholds a commitment to enhancing the overall student experience of those around them.  As a direct result of this volunteer’s actions, their organization and/or WUSA has been able to improve their ability to serve the UW community, more effectively represent and/or support their organization’s membership, and/or more effectively execute their organization’s mandate.

Eligibility: Any student volunteer for a WUSA affiliated group that does not fall under any other award category who also upholds the applicable general nomination requirements.

This award is to recognize an initiative planned, coordinated, and executed by UW students that engaged the UW student population and has successfully contributed to enhancing the quality of student life, improving the UW community, and/or raising awareness for significant student issues.

Eligibility: the planning, coordination, and execution of the initiative (i.e. the parent organization affiliated to a WUSA club).  This initiative must be a grassroots, student initiative.

This award goes to a student who has volunteered their time to Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association advocacy efforts. Recipients of this award goes above and beyond to make University of Waterloo better for students through advocacy efforts. They consistently show passion and dedication to resolving student issues through their volunteer position.

Eligibility: Any student volunteer for a WUSA affiliated group that does advocacy work.
