Building Connections: A Recap of WUSA’s Campus Leaders Forum

A student with a backpack writes on a "Student Experience" board in a bright, modern space.

On June 17, WUSA hosted a forum for student leaders to connect with each other, with WUSA staff, and with staff from the University who work to improve the student experience at Waterloo. I had the pleasure of attending the event with colleagues and getting to experience such a lively event. The forum provided an opportunity for student leaders from various parts of the campus to connect and collaborate. Not only was this an opportunity for them to connect and network, but also an opportunity to share their projects, goals, and passions.

The event was buzzing with enthusiasm and vibrancy. Guests expressed their eagerness to meet with other leaders on campus and make new connections. Many of the leaders were fresh to their roles, while others had been involved with WUSA for some time.  Student leaders were keen to share their thoughts and ideas about student life on campus as well as the student experience. There were discussion boards that allowed folks to express their ideas about experiences across campus as well as what direction and changes could be implemented to create a more positive experience for our students. They spoke about their personal experiences and shared details about their journey within WUSA. Members also shared information to support each other in their different roles as student leaders.

Everyone had so much to share with the experiences among the attendees, being so diverse and insightful. While speaking with some of the guests, they mentioned an event like this was a new experience but that it was a pleasant way to network with others. The event was overall a step forward for leadership on campus and a good time!
