Here’s what happened at the May 3, 2026 WUSA Board of Directors meeting:
Approval of Membership of the 2026-2027 Board Committees
After reviewing applications, President Samir Sharma looked to approve the appointments for At-Large and Director seats for the Ownership Consultation Committee, Elections and Referenda Committee, and the new Advocacy Committee.

Approval of Board Meeting Dates and Times for Spring Term
The Board approved the following times and dates for the next few board meetings:
- June 18, 2026, at 6:00pm
- July 16, 2026, at 6:00pm
- August 20, 2026, at 6:00pm
President’s Report
- For his first report, President Samir Sharma gave a summary on his various appointments, recommendations, and nominations to a mix of external and internal committees.
- He shared that he, alongside Senators Misha Khan and Andrew Chang, had been elected to the Board of Governors.
- For his first month in office, he is looking forward to various meetings with stakeholders all over the University campus!
Vice-President, Student Experience’s Report (VPSE)
- As the first VPSE, Majdalen Azouz is prioritizing setting a clear foundation for those who come after her.
- As scripted in her report, the VPSE will be connecting to various stakeholders on campus from the Sustainable Transportation office to Food Services. Within the year she hopes to act as the bridge between all the moving parts of university life and amplify the collective student voice in such environments.
- Regarding students, Majdalen is looking to be a front-facing figure around campus connecting with members through events, ownership consultations, and exploring a student leader consultation framework to support advocacy.
Vice-President, Government Stakeholder Relations’ Report (VPGSR)
- Vice-President Rory Norris used his first report to set the stage on what he hopes to tackle in the upcoming year. Through his report, he highlighted issues around OSAP and student financial support, student housing, and food insecurity.
- He expressed a responsibility to utilize his roles on the OUSA Steering Committee and membership with CASA to have strong advocacy-based discussions with peer student associations.
- The VPGSR stated that his goal for the next year was to keep students and their stories at the forefront of his work as he navigates policy writing and lobbying.
