A Food Review of Chaska
As students, we know how vital food is for us to get through long classes, midterms, and study sessions. With a wide variety of food choices in The SLC – from a quick snack to a full meal – there is something for everyone to enjoy!
With many students spending many days of their undergraduate career in the SLC, it is imperative that these food options are both nutritious and exciting!
Earlier this month the new Indian quick service restaurant, Chaska, opened for students to try. Chaska is a place full of the rich flavors and delicious meals that Indian cuisine has to offer. Whether you are looking for a delicious refreshment, a small snack between classes, or a full meal – Chaska has something for you!
Students have been raving about the Mango and Rose Lassi that pack a fruity punch. These drinks are made with a yogurt base and offer a smoothie-like texture. The mango flavor offers a fresh and fruity taste that brings you back to summer, even on these rainy fall days. On the other hand, the rose lassi offers a perfect blend of rose flavoring that is not too overpowering, and it is even topped with rose petals to enhance the flavor of the drink. If you are looking for a drink to keep you warm on your walks to class as the weather gets colder, we highly recommend the cutting chai! Sweet with a hint of spices – the Chaska chai will have you coming back for your daily sweet treat! The chai is also available with sugar on the side.
If you simply need a snack during a study break, or in between classes, samosas or masala fries are both great options. Both of these are perfect for when you are on the go – with both of them packing a flavorful punch that will erase your hunger and have you ready to learn!
If you need something to eat for lunch, we highly recommend the naanza, or the rice bowls. Both dishes can either be made with chicken or paneer, allowing meat eaters and vegetarians to enjoy! The naanza – a pizza with naan bread – is the perfect combination of spicy and savory. If you are someone who enjoys a little less kick, we recommend getting it without the green chili peppers. Additionally, the rice bowls offer an amazing combination of rice, with curries like butter chicken/paneer, tikka masala gravy, chana masala and more, topped with fresh cucumber and pickled onions. These bowls will leave you feeling full and ready to conquer a hard afternoon of classes!
To try all of the delicious dishes that Chaska has to offer, make sure you head to the SLC between Monday-Friday from 11am-5pm. Your taste buds will thank you!
