Pay-What-You-Can (PWYC)
Pay-What-You-Can (PWYC) is a program run out of The Bomber by WUSA, to provide nourishing, ready to eat meals to students who need it.
With rising costs of tuition, housing, and groceries, no student should have to skip meals or struggle alone. Whether you need a meal today, this week, or all term, this program is here for you.
PWYC is a pilot program running September 15th 2025 to April 2026.
What's on the Menu?
We offer hot, pre-packaged meals, prepared fresh daily in our kitchen.
Available every day on weekdays, while quantities last. The food menu will change every few days, providing diverse options for you to choose from.
Where and How to Access?
Location: The Bomber, SLC
Hours: Starting at 11am, Monday to Friday, excluding holidays. While supplies last.
You can use the self-serve kiosks in The Bomber to order your meal. When you order, there will be an option to pay the full meal value, a partial amount, or nothing – you decide what you can afford.
The program is open to all University of Waterloo undergraduate students. All you need to do is show your WatCard when you pick up your order.
Need Additional Support
Food hampers are available 24/7 through our Food Support Service for all undergraduate students, graduate students, staff, and faculty. You will need to show your WatCard when picking up a hamper.
Hunger should never hinder your educational journey.
How it's Funded
In April 2024, WUSA's Board of Directors approved a one-time allocation of $100,000 to support students facing food insecurity. The amount was designated to be used to feed students who need assistance through a program run out of The Bomber (formerly the Student Lounge space).
Help Fight Food Insecurity on Campus:
If you're able to give, you can donate to WUSA's Food Support Service and spread the word to students who might need it.
