Officers

President

Damian Mikhail

Damian Mikhail (he/him), 4B Statistics

As a transit and housing activist, Damian led the successful campaign to reinstate Night Transit in Waterloo, ensuring safer and more affordable late-night transportation for students. Damian has also served as a MathSoc councilor and co-founded a WUSA club, demonstrating his commitment to enhancing student life at Waterloo.

Vice President

Remington Zhi

Remington Zhi (they/them), 3B Pure Math and Mathematical Physics

Backed by years of experience in advocacy and student leadership, I’m here to ensure student voices are heard at every table with our external stakeholders. Waterloo students are eager for change, and I’m ready to deliver results that matter, from City Hall to Parliament Hill.

Board

Melanie Bouzanne

Melanie Bouzanne (she/her), 3B Material and Nanosciences

As a new Board member, I’m excited to offer a new perspective, and learn more about WUSA and how we can better support students. I’m passionate about building community, improving student culture and supporting students mental, academic, and social wellbeing.  My previous experience and involvement in Chem Club and FemPhys helped me realize the importance of community.

Andrew Chang

Andrew Chang (he/him), 2B Accounting & Financial Management

I’m looking forward to connecting with the student body, advocating for students and learning more about the inner working of WUSA to improve it. We have a great team on the Board this year and I am looking forward to working with everyone and making some changes in the upcoming months. In addition to being on the WUSA Board of Directors, I’m currently an Arts Student Senator and have been an executive in multiple WUSA clubs.

Outside of WUSA and Senate work, you’ll see me applying to co-ops, networking for future co-ops and ranting about politics.

Skyler Duggan

Skyler Duggan (he/him), 4A Political Science

I’m passionate about student governance, international affairs, and making campus life more responsive to what students actually want. I’ve worked in government, policy, and advocacy, and on campus, I’ve founded clubs focused on law and Middle East peace.

This year, I’m especially excited to improve the WUSA club system and advocate for better student spaces that reflect how we study, socialize, and stay active. In my free time, I love rock climbing, hitting the gym, and unwinding with a good film or games with friends.

Muhammad Kanji

Muhammad Kanji, 2B Chemical Engineering

I’m passionate about building a WUSA that truly works for you — through smarter budgeting, meaningful co-op reform, and expanding student services to meet your needs. I bring a background in election handling and bylaw development and currently serve as a Director at the Engineering Society. Outside of student governance, I’m a bit of a numbers nerd and enjoy analyzing stocks. I’m looking forward to bringing a thoughtful, practical voice to WUSA and working hard to make a real difference this year.

Iman Khan

Iman Khan (she/her), 3B Political Science

I’m so excited to get to connect with students and work together to help improve their experience as a UW student.

Merochini Manohar

Merochini Manohar (she/her), 4 Kinesiology

I look forward to being on board again and expanding my knowledge and skill set and being involved in new committees and hopefully create new changes and better ideas for the future and for the students at UWaterloo.

Rory Norris

Rory Norris (he/him), 3B Biotech/CPA

I’ve always been drawn to numbers and structure—whether it’s through accounting, policy, or creating systems that help myself stay organized and focused. I care a lot about accountability, especially in leadership, and I’ve spent time making sure boards and teams follow through on their responsibilities and serve the people they represent. Outside of that, I’m into film, strategy games, and learning new things. A fun fact: I used to play competitive chess and was once invited to nationals.

Arya Razmjoo

Arya Razmjoo (he/him), 3A Legal and Communication Studies

With extensive experience in WUSA and student governance — including serving as VP of WUSA and VP Finance of OUSA — I am committed to upholding strong governance, accountability, and the continued growth of non-partisan advocacy both within the University and in the broader community.

Rida Sayed

Rida Sayed (he/him), 3B Nanotechnology Engineering

I bring experience from across the University, having been involved with Senate, the Nanotechnology Engineering Society (NESS), the Waterloo Engineering Endowment Fund (WEEF), and many student design teams and clubs. As a member of your Board, I look forward to making sure WUSA delivers real value to you, whether it be through campus life, housing, or direct academic advocacy. When I’m not scheming, you can find me scuba diving, playing chess, or going down a Wikipedia rabbit hole.

Samir Sharma

Samir Sharma (he/him), 1B Honours Math

I look forward to advocating for more student opportunities, working on the student lounge renovations, and addressing undergraduates’ needs. Feel free to reach out if you’d like to discuss your thoughts as a student—or if you want me to destroy you in Game Pigeon (s576shar@wusa.ca).

Katie Traynor

Katie Traynor (she/her), 4A Planning

I’m a passionate bubble tea drinker, and rock climber and I have fun walking around Waterloo late at night! When life gets too stressful, I bake bread and have chocolate.

In my role at WUSA, I’m looking forward to working on supporting student societies, implementing and planning for more student services on campus, and tackling student issues like housing, food security, and affordability.
