Hey WUSA Gooses, here’s a recap of what happened at the Board of Directors meeting on July 7, 2025!

  • The Board approved the appointment of two students as at-large members of the Ownership Consultation Committee (OCC).
  • They also approved the appointment of Magnus Scott to fill the at-large vacancy on the Governance Committee.
  • WUSA’s Advocacy team was tasked by the Board with developing 3 position statements on Student Safety, Environmental Sustainability, and Teaching and Assessments.
  • The governance reform work plan was approved to strengthen advocacy efforts, increase student representation and review current officer workload.
  • The officer compensation review will include a three-month tracking period, with results to be presented in October. Submission processes for board and committee meetings have been streamlined to enhance decision-making efficiency.
  • The Board discussed the recruitment for an Indigenous student delegate to CASA’s National Indigenous Advocacy Committee, including consideration around travel support and honoraria.
  • President Damian Mikhail provided an update on the discussion with the University regarding Senator honorarium, noting that the proposals under consideration include financial compensation, 0 credit courses, and recognition on co-curricular transcripts.   

The Board is scheduled to meet again for their regular Board meeting on August 11, 2025.
