Have Your Say: How to Vote in the Federal Election

It feels like we just voted in an election (mostly because we did), but Canada’s 45th federal election has been called for April 28, 2025!

Vote on Campus

You can vote on campus on:

  • April 13: 12 PM – 6 PM
  • April 14-16: 9 AM – PM daily

For more information, please see: Voting Days.

How Does It Work?

Canada is divided into 343 ridings, each electing a local Member of Parliament (MP). Canada follows a first-past-the-post system, meaning the candidate with the most votes (even if not a majority) wins. The party with the most seats forms the government, and their leader becomes the prime minister.
