As the collective voice of undergraduate students at the University of Waterloo, the Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association (WUSA) is dedicated to advocating for students, improving services, and strengthening campus community life. This year, we made major progress in areas like mental health, housing, equity, accessibility, and governance, while launching new initiatives and expanding student spaces.

From the opening of Chaska and Smarty Pants to the return of a large-scale Orientation concert with Dillon Francis, 2024–25 was a year of growth and renewed engagement. WUSA also joined the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations (CASA), expanding our national advocacy presence, and launched the Change Engine pitch competition to fund and mentor student-led advocacy projects.

Our advocacy focused on affordability, safety, inclusion, and sustainability. Through programs like free legal support, gender-affirming care coverage, and the Indigenization Action Plan, we worked to make campus more equitable and responsive. Governance milestones included a record voter turnout with 1 in 5 students casting a ballot, the approval of key student motions at the Annual Members Meeting, and the development WUSA’s 2025–2030 Long-Range Plan.

We strengthened engagement with 13,000+ students participating in at least one WUSA event, expanded club and society support systems, and continued our data-driven decision-making through our Representative Survey Platform. Behind the scenes, new systems and staffing improved financial transparency, IT reliability, and administrative efficiency.

This report showcases WUSA’s continued commitment to serving, empowering, and representing Waterloo undergraduates—creating a stronger, more inclusive, and student-driven university experience for all.
