WUSA Incident Reporting: Updated Resources to Support Your Safety and Well-Being
The WUSA Incident Reporting Form has been updated to enhance clarity and accessibility for those seeking support after experiencing or witnessing incidents on campus. This form provides WUSA with information to enhance and support advocacy efforts and helps us create a better university experience for marginalized groups.
In addition to submitting an incident report, there are resources available to provide support and guidance, depending on the nature of the incident:
- If your safety is immediately threatened, call the police at 911, or Special Constable Service at 519-888-4911.
- If you would like to make a formal complaint about an individual (academic or non-academic allegation), please read Policy 71 and/or Policy 33, and contact your Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies.
- For information and/or support on University policies and procedures, please contact your faculty’s Associate Dean or the Secretariat.
- For support on intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and/or sexual harassment, contact the Sexual Violence Prevention & Response Office (SVPRO) office on campus.
- For support relating to various aspects of one’s personal identities, contact the Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Anti-racism (EDI-R) and/or the Indigenous Relations Office.
If you have experienced instances of hate, we encourage you to report it by emailing gethelp@uwaterloo.ca. Equipped with a communications team that monitors the form inbox, this resource aims to ensure trauma-informed, streamlined, and confidential support for all members of the campus community. Further steps will be communicated within one business day of form submission, while still preserving your confidentiality (inbox not monitored on weekends).
The inbox coordinates between different units and departments, contacting the appropriate persons according to the situation. The police investigation is up to student discretion, and the team works alongside the faculties and services to ensure that the report gets escalated to the appropriate degree. The results from reports are not tracked due to confidentiality; however, allegations are tracked to file the information.
When an incident occurs, it is important to be aware of the resources in place to support you it. Alongside the incident reporting process, it is vital to take care of your mental and physical health. You are not alone.
