UWMUN: The International Olympic Committee

The IOC is a massive multilateral diplomatic institution and is responsible for one of the most iconic diplomatic events of the modern day, the Olympic Games. Where the nations of the world compete in sport, an act of camaraderie in honour of the ancient games for the Gods of Olympus.

UWMUN celebrates the coming of the Milan 2026 Winter Olympics with our own simulation of the IOC. Honouring the admirable diplomatic goals of the games while tempering them with discussions of their controversies. How will delegates prevent doping and fraud? How will they ensure the safety of athletes and the sanitization of the Olympic Village? How will they reconcile the institutional neutrality of the games with the diplomatic realities of the world?
