Founded in 2002, The Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children (FIMRC) is an organization dedicated to overcoming barriers to quality healthcare in the developing world. Using innovative and self-sustainable programs, FIMRC has worked towards improving access to healthcare worldwide with over 3000 staff and volunteers contributing globally. The Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children (FIMRC) University of Waterloo Chapter is a club dedicated to raising awareness for global health inequity, with a specific focus on maternal and pediatric health. FIMRC UW will focus on fundraising for specific projects to improve access to healthcare, and education (preventative health), organizing local volunteer opportunities in the KW region, and serving as a conduit for interested students to volunteer abroad in one of nine FIMRC volunteer sites, which are Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, India, Nicaragua, Peru, Philippines, and Uganda
