A Great University Experience Starts with Orientation – How Was Yours?

A student embraces the mascot outdoors, surrounded by playful doodles, with the phrase "Student Transition Survey" displayed prominently.

We want to know if your Orientation experience set you up for success at the University of Waterloo!

We are already nearing the second half of the fall term and now that the excitement from September has died down a bit, this is the perfect opportunity to reflect on your first few weeks of university!

For many students, the transition to university life comes with a lot of new experiences. Orientation is a large part of this transition and whether you are in your first year here at Waterloo or you are finishing up your degree, the memories made during Orientation last a lifetime. We understand that Orientation is different for everyone, and how it impacted you on an individual level is a crucial part of understanding how we can improve things for everyone.

The New Student Transition (NST) survey is a way for you to voice YOUR opinion on Orientation. Through collaboration between WUSA, the Student Success Office, and each faculty, Orientation is meticulously crafted to optimize the student experience. Every year during the first week of the term, hundreds of student leaders come together to make Orientation happen, with their goal being to integrate the new Warriors into their community. To make the first week of university the best possible experience, we want your feedback on the Orientation events, kits, scheduling, and more.

Open to all undergrads at Waterloo, this survey will help us understand:

  • The barriers you faced during Orientation.
  • What could have enhanced your experience.
  • How Orientation could have better set you up for university life.

It is important that all students have an equal opportunity to participate in Orientation and experience a seamless transition to life at the University.

How did Orientation impact your overall transition to university life here at Waterloo? We want to hear from YOU! The results of this survey will be implemented into future orientation experiences for Warriors, ensuring that their transition to university is as smooth as possible.
