F – Freely Given: Consent must be a choice made without pressure, coercion, manipulation, or influence from drugs or alcohol.
R – Reversible: A person can change their mind and withdraw consent at any time, for any reason, even if they previously agreed.
I – Informed: Everyone involved needs to have all the relevant information to make a decision—consent isn’t valid if it’s based on deception or lack of understanding.
E – Enthusiastic: Consent should come from someone who actively and excitedly wants to participate, not someone who feels obligated or unsure.
S – Specific: Saying yes to one thing doesn’t mean saying yes to everything—consent must be given for each action individually.
