WATERLOO’S BIGGEST BREAKING COMPETITION RETURNS FOR 2025, RIGHT AT HOME IN THE SLC LOWER ATRIUM.

Have you ever seen a breakdance (breaking) battle before? We’re gathering dancers from across Ontario, Quebec, Michigan and more for our annual breakdance competition event, right here in the SLC Lower Atrium–competing for $500 in prizes, and more in respect.

We are offering a free intro-to-breaking workshop for women, non-binary, and trans-identifying peoples at Ground FX, in addition to our advanced breaking workshop ($10) and 3v3 breaking battle ($10/crew member). Please sign up for your tickets here! Space is limited. The free womens intro-to-breaking workshop will be privately hosted by Toronto’s Expand The Cypher dance collective, in the PAC Small Gym. All events are open to the general public.

We invite all those who will not be competing to participate in the free intro-to-breaking womens’ workshop, or $10 advanced breaking workshop, come see all of our awesome vendors (vintage clothing & more!), or to simply watch these intense dance battles go down. – REGISTRATION & CHECK-IN: 1-2PM
– WORKSHOPS: 2-3:30PM
– 3V3 BREAKING BATTLE PRELIMS: 3:30-5PM
– EXHIBITION BATTLES: 5-5:30PM
– UW DANCE PERFORMANCES: 5:30-6PM
– TOP 16 (3V3 BREAKING) : 6:30-8PM

– The return of the iconic GFX 3v3 breaking battle (main event)
– For the first time: a collegiate breaking exhibition battle between UW Breakers, TMU Breaking, and UTM Breakers!
– Performances from UW dance collectives UW Hip-Hop, Haebeat, and UW Street Dance!
– A free intro-to-breaking workshop for bgirls, non-binary, and trans dancers, a team-up with Toronto’s very own Expand The Cypher collective!
– An advanced breaking workshop ($10 entry) with the iconic Floor Gangz Kybalion Tafiya!
– Tons of student run and local vendors selling during the entire event – clothing, art, hip-hop! Come get your thrift on and support KW artist communities.
