2021 Winter Election AMA – Update

As you may have heard, WUSA made the decision to move this year’s Reddit AMA to Instagram.

This decision became necessary to protect members of the UWaterloo community from hateful actions that seem to be encouraged by internet anonymity as seen at last week’s occurrence at an event organized by RAISE, ESS and Fossil Free UW.

This decision was taken with great thoughts on its impact on transparency, inclusiveness and consistency with the traditions of our election process. We believe this change still allows students to engage with their candidates albeit in a safer, more inclusive environment.

Our commitment to both running a transparent election and protecting all members of our association remains unwavering and we will continue to find ways for both priorities to co-exist.

Signed,

WUSA
