Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love, and that most definitely includes love for yourself.

With midterms and assignments piling up, it can be difficult to find time to relax and indulge ourselves - which is why I’ve compiled a small list of ideas to fall in love with Valentine’s Day for yourself!

Whether it's doing something that you really enjoy but haven’t found the time for or eating out (or in!) with your favourite meal, these ideas are sure to make this Valentine’s Day an amazing day of self-love.

  1. Order your favourite meal

If you like to cook, grab some ingredients from the grocery store and enjoy doing what you do best! However, this day is to relax and reward yourself so if you want to order a meal that you’ve been craving for weeks, today is the day to do so. You can eat out, or you can stay in and put your feet up in the comfort of your own home.

  1. Buy snacks and have a movie marathon or TV show marathon

Go out to your local grocery store and buy your favourite snacks, whether it be some Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, chocolate chip cookies, or a fruit tray - treat yourself! Bring them home and settle down into your bed or couch with your favourite blanket and turn on those shows and movies you’ve been telling yourself that you want to watch but never have the time to.

  1. Spa day at home

Find a body scrub with a smell that you really love, or a hair oil that fits your hair type. The scrub will leave your skin feeling smooth and rejuvenated while the hair oil will leave you smelling fresh all day. If you do have a tub, throw in some bath oils, a bath bomb, or foaming bath to make it even more relaxing!

  1. Favourite hobby

If you haven’t found the time to read that book, play that new video game, or start that new arts and crafts project lately, Valentine's Day is the perfect day to get back to what you love! Make some time for yourself to do the things you love to remind yourself that not everything has to feel stressful or like a chore.

  1. Clean your room

I know this one sounds odd but hear me out: being able to sleep and relax in a clean room is one of the best feelings in the world. You could find some time to clean out that closet, organize your dressers and makeup; even cleaning the floors or doing laundry can help you feel more relaxed!

  1. Call your friends and family

Spending time with friends and family can be a great way to recharge but if they’re farther away or busy on this particular day, find some time to video call them. Even a short 5 minute call can really help to uplift your mood and remind you how loved you are.

  1. Try something new

If there’s been a hobby or a dish that you’ve been wanting to try, be confident today and go for it - you might fall in love! Trying something new may be a little intimidating at first, but it is rewarding to go through that trial and error in finding new things that you may already be a master at.

Remember, self-love can also happen on any day! Be sure to give yourself breaks between studying and work,  take some time to relax and do the things that you love doing, or treat yourself to the little things like buying yourself a donut or a cookie on the way home.

Be kind to yourself this Valentine's Day!
