Feds UPass Referendum
Do you support the expansion of the current UPass agreement to allow all undergraduate students with at least one on-campus course to be eligible to access Grand River Transit (GRT) transit services? The UPass will be the same cost for all students and allows part-time and full-time undergraduate students to access transit services provided by GRT.
Are you currently an undergraduate student taking fewer than three (3) on-campus courses, or are likely to be an undergraduate student taking fewer than three (3) on-campus courses in the coming year?
Currently, the UPass only encompasses students in three or more on-campus courses, students on co-op, or students between two academic terms, meaning that part-time students and full-time students with fewer than three (3) on-campus courses are unable to participate in the UPass program. Students must possess a valid UPass to use the new tap validation system on Grand River Transit (GRT) vehicles. As a new agreement will need to be made between Feds and GRT in 2020, this referendum will help to determine whether part-time students and full-time students with fewer than three on-campus courses would be included in the UPass negotiations. This fee would continue to be compulsory and non-refundable. Changes to the UPass agreement would be contingent on negotiations with GRT during the next renewal of the agreement.
