Hello fellow Optoms!
We are thrilled to announce the return of the Low Vision Interest Group’s fundraising event, and this time, in-person: Crochet Night 2023! Use this night as a chance to pat yourself on the back for surviving midterm season as well as a de-stress event prior to embarking on your journey to lab practical exams! This event is beginner friendly, and no experience is required! Dinner will be provided!
Join us on Thursday, March 16 at 6:30 pm in OPT 1129 where UWOVS’ very own Phoebe Bizarro will walk us through the process of crocheting an eyeball-inspired coaster, and participants can choose their preferred iris colour. Similar to Paint Night, we would kindly ask you to use some low vision simulators such as sunglasses or tinted glasses while we carry on with the event. The deadline for registration and payment is Friday, March 10.
All required supplies include a crochet hook (3.5-5mm) and lots of yarn (white, green/blue/brown, black). The $12 ticket includes all materials (crochet hook and yarn) and entry to the event. The $10 ticket includes only yarn and entry to the event, for those of you who already have crochet hooks. All proceeds will be used to support future events and activities of the Low Vision Interest Group! The materials will be ready for you at the start of the event.
All participants will have the opportunity to win one of two $25 Amazon gift cards. All that is required is for you to take a picture of yourself with your completed crocheted eyeball coaster and share the type of low vision simulators that you used to make it! Make sure you post your pictures on the Facebook event page. With your permission, we will share your masterpieces with our members!
We are looking forward to seeing you there!
