Roofs, roomies, and rules – know your rights!

Studying is pretty hard, but housing shouldn’t be!

With the recent issues of Waterloo’s housing crisis, we wanted to give you the opportunity to learn more about your rights as a student living in Waterloo and how you can advocate for yourself!

Join WUSA and Studentcare Legal Protection Services in this session about housing and your rights as a tenant. A lawyer will be present to talk about key housing concerns and things to look out for while singing rental agreements. This session will shine some light on any questions you may have around:

  • The Ontario Standard Lease (what is included, the right to request its use)
  • Examples of illegal or unenforceable clauses that are commonly added
  • Lease termination rights
  • Legal rent increases

If you are a student preparing to look for housing in the spring/summer term or beyond, do not miss this session!
